Industrial Treasure Hunt in Oberschöneweide

Industrial treasure hunt in Oberschöneweide

Discover historic industrial architecture

During our industrial treasure hunt through Oberschöneweide, you will explore one of the most important historic industrial districts of Germany. Ever since 1890, industrial history has been written here. Many of the factory buildings are today protected monuments.

The history of Oberschöneweide is closely linked to AEG (Allgemeine Elektricitäts-Gesellschaft), one of the world's largest electrical companies. Following the bankruptcy of AEG in 1982, the trademark rights are now owned by the Swedish company Electrolux, which grants licenses to many companies.

The logo of AEG, developed by Peter Behrens in 1912, is still displayed on home appliances such as dishwashers or washing machines. As an architect, Peter Behrens designed many of the industrial buildings in Oberschöneweide and elsewhere in Berlin.

During our industrial treasure hunts through Oberschöneweide, you will discover historic industrial architecture, traverse austere brownfield sites, stroll along the banks of the Spree river, discover the highly modern campus of HTW, relax in a cosy café…
